Influencer relationships being problematic is nothing new. But hiring a hitman to kill your baby daddy? Now that's something that doesn't happen every day.

Gabbie Gonzalez And Her Father Arrested

Gabbie Gonzales is a lifestyle influencer with around 460,000 followers on Instagram and 416,000 on TikTok. She first gained public attention through her high-profile relationship with Jack Avery.

Avery is a former member of the boy band Why Don't We and now makes music on his own. The couple started dating in Febuary 2018 and were in a relationship for around 18 months, ending things shortly before their daughter Lavender was born. Since then, the two parents have been in a long and ongoing custody and visitation battle over their now 7-year-old child.

TMZ reports not only Gabbie, but also her father Francisco Gonzalez being involved in a plot against Avery. One witness allegedly told police that Francisco had said the custody battle would be cheaper if Avery were dead.

The plan had reportedly started way back in 2021, tracking and photographing Avery to catch him smoking and drinking in an attempt to use the material against him in the custody case. Moreover, Franciso allegedly wrote "Call Barca ... never too early." in a communication with family members. Later, authorities claim, Gabbie and her friend Kai Cordrey tried to recruit Dustin Barca, a former professional fighter and boxing trainer, to threaten Avery.

This friend Kai is also the one Francisco had allegedly paid $10,000 to in "web-development payments." But Kai told police that this was just a cover up. According to court documents, investigators say Gabbie and Kai discussed possibly making Jack's murder look like a car accident. Thanks to the information provided by Kai, a federal agent could pose as the hitman in a phone call to Francisco in which the father clearly states his payments and the intended target.

Gabbie Gonzalez was arrested in Humboldt County, California, boarding a flight. She was then transferred to Los Angeles County. Her father, Francisco Gonzalez, was also taken into custody in Florida. They were both booked for conspiracy to commit murder.

Jack Avery Files Restraining Order

Avery had previously talked about being visited by FBI agents in September of last year telling him that someone was trying to kill him, although he did not suspect Gabbie at the time, praising her for being a good mother.

Now, after the arrest, Avery filed for a temporary restraining order against Gabbie, not wanting her near their daughter. He says sole custody rights would allow him to get a therapist for Lavender to process all of this.

When Gabbie was arrested, Avery claims he flew to Northern California to pick his child up from a foster family. Lavender, however, seemed to blame him for her mother being arrested, showing how Gabbie probably talked about Avery in front of her daughter.

Jack Avery says he does not feel it is safe for him or his daughter in his home because of Gabbie's family and friends blowing up his phone and showing up at his door asking for Lavender.

The temporary restraining order was granted by the court on Tuesday, May 19. Gabbie is not allowed to go within 100 yards of Jack or Lavender or contact them. Her bail was set at $2 million.

Florida Bar Association opened a disciplinary file in the case of Francisco Gonzales.

What started as a messy influencer breakup and custody battle has now escalated into a shocking criminal case with potentially life-changing consequences for everyone involved, especially their daughter. While the criminal proceedings go on, everyone just crosses their fingers that Lavender will be okay.
