Influencer Ian Lightfoot has collected data on the alleged crimes of male celebrities, such as Brad Pitt or Tory Lanez.
“Famous male abusers who still haven’t been cancelled as much as a woman who doesn’t smile enough” is the title of a series of videos by Instagrammer Ian Lightfoot. On his channel, “ianllightfoot”, he tries to educate people about the alleged crimes of male celebrities and compares them to the sometimes ridiculous reasons female stars are hated.
Famous Male Abusers
His series now consists of eight parts and has gained around 70 million views on social media. In each video, he discusses the stories of three male celebrities who have faced serious allegations but have managed to maintain successful careers.
Each video begins with a hook to grab your attention. For example, he complains about Miley Cyrus's "trashy" image, and then switches to the horrible accusations against famous men.
He has also compiled all the data on a website called "famousmaleabusers.com." The site includes a list of the 25 men he has covered, their crimes, and their most popular projects. Most importantly, he shares his sources to prove that these stories aren't made up.
Ian says the reason he started his series and project is because of his anger about the double standards in our society. Famous women are cancelled for ‘allegations’ they are unfriendly, and famous men often face allegations about sexual assault and domestic violence that seem to stay with the public far less. This project is about our collective memory.”
Well-Known Faces, Forgotten Crimes
The website includes well-known figures, such as Brad Pitt and Jared Leto, who have been accused of crimes and are probably familiar to the general public. Some lesser-known figures on the list are Dr. Luke, producer of many Katy Perry and Britney Spears songs, and Tory Lanez, a popular rapper.
Dr. Luke allegedly drugged, raped and abused Ke$ha for a decade, creating one of the most infamous abuse cases in the 2010s. He still claims he didn't do it, and in 2023 he and Ke$ha reached an undisclosed settlement. Despite that he still works under Republic Records and has worked on Katy Perry’s and Blackpink’s newest albums.
Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020 and is serving a 10-year prison sentence for it, but he has been accused of abusing a woman before that and another man afterward. Despite that he still has 25 million monthly listeners on Spotify and is worth $2 million.
The list includes not only musicians, but also directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Woody Allen, actors such as Michael Fassbender and Mark Wahlberg and athletes such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
It's important to note that the database only collects allegations and most of them haven't been ruled on in court. The page notes that "inclusion on this list does not prove innocence or guilt."
