Nine years after the success of the first film, Zootopia 2 has finally arrived in theaters. Disney takes us back to a vibrant world of anthropomorphic animals, where Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde step into new adventures as police officers. The unlikely duo must once again prove themselves after their first case and face a brand-new, action-packed mission.

Although Hopps and Wilde now officially work side by side, new assignments put their partnership to the test. After a botched smuggling bust, Chief Bogo (Idris Elba) sends them to a “Partners in Crisis” group therapy to work through their tensions. These scenes provide plenty of humor while also offering insight into the personal dynamics between the two heroes.

The New Case: The Hunt For Gary De’Snake

The main story kicks off during Zootopia’s 100th city anniversary celebration. A mysterious blue snake named Gary (voiced by Ke Huy Quan) steals a valuable journal belonging to the city’s founder, Ebeneezer Lynxley. Hopps and Wilde chase him across the city while being pursued themselves by both the police and the Lynxley family. The chase takes viewers to new locations, revealing previously unseen parts of Zootopia, from hidden reptile communities to climate zones designed for different animal species.

In addition to the main characters, fan-favorite supporting characters return: the slow DMV worker Flash, the friendly dispatcher Benjamin Clawhauser, and Shakira’s Gazelle, who performs a new song. At the same time, the film introduces new characters, including Mayor Brian Winddancer and the podcast-hosting beaver Nibbles Maplestick. Celebrity guest voices such as Andy Samberg, Danny Trejo, and Quinta Brunson add extra entertainment.

Entertainment For Young And Old

Zootopia 2 is primarily aimed at children, but it’s packed with references to other Disney films, from Ratatouille to The Shining, that will make adults smile. Directors and co-writers Jared Bush and Byron Howard blend humor, excitement, and a strong message about acceptance, justice, and courage.

The sequel has impressed both critics and audiences: IMDb rates the film 7.8 out of 10. The chemistry between Hopps and Wilde, as well as the expanded world of Zootopia, receives particular praise. With a runtime of 1 hour and 48 minutes and a PG rating for action and cheeky humor, Zootopia 2 is a family-friendly film for all ages. Fans of the first film will surely enjoy the sequel either in theaters or later on Disney+.
