The OG Fortnite-based Reload mode provided a much-needed boost to Fortnite's player numbers this year. With Chapter 5 Season 3 already considered by many players to be one of the worst seasons ever, Fortnite Reload hit like a bomb and dramatically lowered the player numbers of the normal Battle Royale mode. Epic Games seems to have recognized the enormous potential and is now running the first two Reload tournaments.
Today marks the debut of Fortnite's first Reload Tournaments, as Epic Games shifts focus to a mode that has outperformed the traditional Battle Royale in recent weeks. With Reload mode proving to engage players more effectively, Epic is capitalizing on its success by hosting these new tournaments to maintain high player numbers and keep the game mode fresh and exciting.

Fortnite Reload Cups: Tournament Format
This exciting update features two distinct events – Reload Cup and No Build Reload Cup – both of which will run from 16:30 to 18:30 CET in Europe and from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM CST in NA Central.
Matches are played in squad mode, and if players are unable to form a full squad, they can opt for the "Fill" option in the menu to be paired with random teammates. The tournaments will consist of seven rounds, providing ample opportunity for players to showcase their skills.
The scoring system rewards aggressive play and strategic placements. For kills, players earn points as follows:
- 4 or more kills grant 1 point
- 8 kills earn an additional point
- 12 kills add yet another point, making a maximum of 3 points possible for kills alone
Placement points are equally crucial, with a Victory Royale earning 15 points, second place 10 points, and so forth down to 1 point for ninth place.
Fortnite Reload Cups: No Prices Yet
Currently, there are no cash prizes or other rewards associated with these tournaments. Epic Games appears to be gauging player interest before committing to any prize structures. However, the fact that Epic is testing these tournaments indicates a strong interest in maintaining and expanding the Reload mode. If the response is positive, we could see more tournaments and continued updates similar to those in the traditional Battle Royale mode.
Fortnite Reload Cups: How To Participate
To take part in the tournaments, you don't need to fulfill any major requirements, such as having a certain rank or passing a qualification phase. Players just have to meet a minimum account level of 15 and have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on their Epic account.
