Bwipo said women should not participate in competitive games "at a certain time of the month."

Traditionally, the League of Legends Esports team releases an epic music video a few days before the start of the World Championship. This video not only gets fans in the mood for the biggest event of the year, but also introduces the participating players and teams in an impressive way.
This year, however, the release of the music video has been delayed. The LoL Esports team announced that there had been delays in production because Bwipo, a professional esports player, was to be removed from the final version.
The Bwipo Controversy
The release of this year's League of Legends Worlds music video has been postponed until October 13. The reason for the delay is a last-minute change in production: the esports team is currently working on removing the player Bwipo from the video.
The Worlds Music Video will now launch on October 13, a few days later than originally planned. Bwipo was featured in the original cut, but given his recent comments, we decided it wouldn't be right to showcase him in a piece that represents LoL Esports, pro players, and fans....

The background to this is a controversial statement made by Bwipo in September 2025. In it, he made derogatory remarks about women in esports and questioned whether they should participate in competitions during certain phases of their monthly cycle.
The statement was widely criticized by the community and is now also having an impact on the official presentation of the World Championship.
"When a woman is on the wrong part of the month, for playing competitively – you know what I mean? There is a time of the month where you should not be playing competitive games as a woman in my opinion […] I lived with one for a while, and she played a lot of League ranked. It was really obvious when she was getting super irritated at every little thing. I’m not trying to be sexist or anything, that’s just the way it was." – Bwipo
Although Bwipo later publicly apologized for his comments, he was benched for one game by his team FlyQuest. LoL Esports also responded, announcing in a Twitch stream that they would completely cut him from this year's Worlds music video. The necessary reworking will now delay the release of the highly anticipated video by several days.
