We say goodbye to "The Sims Mobile", but it is not over just yet.
Electronic Arts has officially announced that The Sims Mobile will be shutting down after seven years of operation. The mobile adaptation of the iconic life simulation franchise will go offline permanently on January 20, 2026.
Since The Sims Mobile is an online-only title, this means it will no longer be accessible to any users after the shutdown date. Players will lose access to the game entirely, even if it's installed on their devices.
As of October 21, 2025, The Sims Mobile has been delisted from app stores. This means new players can no longer download the game. However, if you already have it installed, you can continue playing until the servers go offline in January.
"Proud To Have Shared This Journey With You"
The Sims Mobile was first released by Electronic Arts in March 2018, and quickly gained a massive following. By September of the same year, the game had already attracted nearly 50 million users.
Over the years, the game received more than fifty updates, continuously adding new content, features, and events to keep the experience fresh and engaging for its community.
In a recent blog post, EA expressed gratitude to its players, stating they are "proud to have shared this journey" with the fans. The post also outlines what players can expect in the final months before the shutdown, including farewell content and support as the game approaches its end in January 2026.
Enjoy Playing Until January
As the countdown begins, EA has detailed what players can expect in The Sims Mobile’s final months. From now on, real-money purchases have been disabled. However, any existing "SimCash", "Simoleons", or "Tickets" can still be used freely until the servers shut down.
The Sims Mobile received one final update on October 20, 2025. This patch introduces themed events such as "Eerie Autumn", "Cozier Home", and "Foxbury Institute", giving players a chance to enjoy new content one last time.
As part of the update, all players now have unlimited energy, making it easier to complete projects and fully enjoy the remaining time in the game. Additionally, all "Build Mode" and "Create-A-Sim" (CAS) items have been unlocked for everyone.
“We want to give everyone the opportunity to build their dream home, design their perfect Sims, and experience everything TSM has to offer before the servers close. We would love to see what you create if you would like to share it with us,” – Electronic Arts
Fans Are Disappointed
With this final update, EA is encouraging fans to make the most of their remaining time in The Sims Mobile.
Still, the disappointment among fans is huge, especially among those who have invested a lot of time and energy in building everything up.
"I've been playing for years. I don't know what to say" – JadeShrimp via Reddit
"I thankfully never spent much real cash on the game, but I know a lot of people who did probably thinking they were investing into something they would have for life." – AnemoiaVoid via Reddit
Since the shutdown of the servers also means that any unspent in-game currency will expire and players will no longer have access to their built houses and their Sims, the frustration is understandable.
