Hades 2 Is Already Bigger Than The First Game, And It's Not Even Complete Yet

Hades 2 is surprisingly out in Early Access, offering more content than you might have expected.

While 2024 is full of exciting video game releases, Hades 2 was one of the most-anticipated games of the year. And you can now play it, as developer and publisher Supergiant Games shadow dropped the game on May 7, 2024.

Hades 2 Is Impressively Big & A Hell Of A Good Time

In Hades 2 you play as Melinoë, the Princess of the Underworld. The sister of Zagreus, the hero of Hades 1, is fighting her way through the underworld on the hunt for Chronos, the Titan of Time who has kidnapped Melinoë’s family.

Sounds familiar? Yes, Hades 2 looks very similar to the predecessor at first glance. It’s once again a Rogue-like action title where you fight through a number of different regions, collecting temporary boons and other upgrades. Should you die during the run, you come back to the hub area, spend resources on upgrades and new weapons and go again.

However, the further you get into Hades 2, the more changes and new elements you will see. Almost every element of Supergiant’s brilliant formula has been honed, added to or overworked to make the game even better than the highly praised and beloved predecessor. Hades 2 has a ton of surprises up its sleeve, and don’t worry: I’m not going to spoil any of them.

Hades 2 also launched into Early Access, just like the first game. That means that the game will continuously get updates, including new content that will be added. However, even though the game is technically not complete yet, it is already bigger than the first adventure was when it fully launched.

“Hades II in Early Access already has more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game. But it isn't complete, and key areas, characters, foes, narrative events, and systems are still to come.”

This is a pretty impressive feat for Supergiant, which is set to keep the game “in Early Access development at least through the end of 2024.” If you don't want to wait until then, you can get Hades 2 now for $28.99 on Steam and Epic Games Store. Console versions are set to arrive with the launch of version 1.0.
