Ironmouse Leaves VShojo – Agency Is Withholding 500.000$ For Charity

Last year, Ironmouse broke records with her subathon where she raised money for charity. A year later, her agency VShojo has not only failed to pay up, but also withheld money from her.

Last year seemed to be going great for the famous Vtuber Ironmouse. Not only did she break all kinds of subscriber records on Twitch again, she also raised a large sum of money for a charity that is near and dear to her heart. She managed to raise over $500,000 for The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF).

Ironmouse herself suffers from Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) which is why charities like IDF mean a lot to her. She began streaming because the sickness binds her to her room all day. Her finances were always handled by her talent agency VShojo which is also in charge of handing out the collected donations. But yesterday, Ironmouse disclosed in a video that the $500,000 have still not been paid to the charity almost a year later.

Ironmouse also stated this as the reason why she is leaving the agency. Furthermore, she mentions that VShojo also owes her a significant amount of funds that have not yet been paid. While Ironmouse wants to be open about this topic and wants to disclose more details, she has been advised to wait for legal proceedings.

VShojo Handling The Finances

Looking at this situation, one might question the fact that VShojo handled the Twitch finances and subscriptions of Ironmouse. Why didn't she take care of it herself? In reality, it's not uncommon for these types of agencies to handle all of the finances of Vtubers.

In Ironmouse' case, this was also appealing to her at first. This way, she could stay more private and never had to give out any of her personal information, which is something that she cherishes a lot. Over time, Ironmouse wanted to be more involved with her own finances. She started pulling out her own funds from the company and found out about the money that she and the charity are owed.

VShojo And The Industry Of Bad Agencies

Vtuber agencies being bad is nothing new in the industry. Honestly, I wish I could say I was shocked to hear the news about VShojo. Whether it's due to malicious intent or incompetence, these agencies have significantly worsened their reputations over time. VShojo's alleged bad practices would also explain why other big VTubers have previously left the agency.

On June 25, another famous VTuber Geega decided to part ways with the agency. Only two days later Zentreya also announced her departure from VShojo. Big names going their separate ways only weeks before these recent claims came up begs the question if the Ironmouse incident is one of many things going wrong at VShojo.

Ironmouse Going Indie

With VShojo being one of the most streamed VTuber agencies worldwide, these recent departures, along with Ironmouse, are probably going to hit the company pretty hard. The Vtubers on the other hand will continue on independently. This means that they have way more say in the type of content they want to make and are not bound to an agency overlooking everything they do.

Ironmouse is now an independent Vtuber as well. With this sudden departure come a lot of insecurities for the future, but with many big names like bbno$, Shylili and more showing their support and Ironmouse being free of financial abuse, it also leaves a hopeful note. VShojo has not yet issued a statement.
