Korean streamer bongbong pressed charges against Johnny Somali.

It's no surprise to read that Johnny Somali is facing even more legal charges in South Korea, considering his history of "mistakes." This time, he might face jail time and a large fine.
Johnny Somali uses deepfake AI to show himself kissing Korean streamer
Johnny Somali showcased a video on his laptop in one of his livestreams that showed himself and the Korean streamer bongbong kissing in a car. Though, people quickly realized that this video wasn't real. It already looked odd, but the giveaway was the hailuo Ai watermark at the bottom right of the screen.
The video and stream do not exist anymore on Somali's socials, however there are plenty of clips and screenshots floating in the web.
On September 26 of this year, a bill passed in South Korea that meant anyone who possesses any sort of sexually explicit deepfakes of other individuals may receive up to 7 years of jail time and a fine of $22,000 USD.
Clearly, Somali broke Korean law once more in this case. And bongbong herself was outraged, too. The two of them had been streaming together before, so she must have felt betrayed.
Bongbong streamed herself filing a complaint against Somali at the Cheongwon Police Department, muttering insults such as calling Somali "monkey". But she ultimately decided to drop the charges — her exact reasons are unknown.
However, the police decided to continue to press charges against Somali. It is very likely that that decision was made because of the amount of other charges Somali is currently already facing.
Somali did give a verbal apology, but that will probably do him little favors in this case. He is not allowed to leave the country of South Korea and will probably be sent to jail for his crimes.
Do you think this punishment is befitting of the situation? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
