The developers of Marvel Rivals have teased two prominent X-Men members in their latest patch notes and it seems that at least one of them will join the roster as another Duelist.

Marvel Rivals Teases At Rogue And Gambit Arrival In Season 5

The latest patch notes from November 6 included an interesting tease: in the background, Rogue and Gambit can be vaguely seen. The two are among the most popular members of the X-Men from the comics.

Gambit might be familiar to some people who watched the latest Deadpool movie, while Rogue appeared in the early 2000s X-Men films alongside Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry.

However, in case you haven’t seen those movies, here’s a short overview of their abilities. Rogue is a mutant who can absorb the memories, life energy and powers of anyone she touches, a gift that makes her incredibly powerful but also isolates her from others. Gambit’s ability, on the other hand, is to charge objects with kinetic energy. He usually uses playing cards for this, turning them into deadly projectiles. In the comics, the two are not only teammates but also a couple, known for their complicated yet iconic relationship within the X-Men stories.

Leaked Roles Suggest Rogue As Support and Gambit As Another DPS

Leakers have been busy over the past few weeks. They teased the two characters some time ago and even shared details about their expected roles. Rogue might finally become the first true Strategist addition to the game, and no, Ultron does not count. Strategist players are in dire need of a new champion, with only nine heroes currently filling that role. On top of that, several of them are only truly viable in triple healer team compositions, so support players are desperate for more variety.

Gambit, on the other hand, is likely to be a Duelist, both according to the leaks and based on his abilities in the comics. With 23 Duelists already in the game, there are now more DPS characters than Vanguards and Strategists combined. This imbalance has sparked growing frustration among players, many of whom believe that NetEase should focus on adding more Vanguards and Strategists instead of yet another Duelist. The heroes could join the Marvel Rivals roster on November 14 with the start of Season 5.

Potential W for Support Players

Even if nothing is confirmed yet, getting a potential new Support hero already feels like a win for the community. NetEase has acknowledged the criticism about the Duelist oversupply, but the developers also mentioned that hero releases are planned far in advance. It might take some time before we see more Tanks and Supports join the battlefield. For now, all we can do is wait and hope that this tease marks the beginning of a more balanced roster.
