Nintendo just launched an app that let's you listen to your favorite soundtracks from their games with some very interesting features.

Just between us, you can admit it: Who didn’t want to feel like one of their favorite videogame characters at least once? But what is holding us back from feeling like Link or an Animal Crossing villager – apart from people not being a fan of you throwing their pottery around or your dog lacking the ability to hold the guitar like good old K.K. Slider?

The music! No videogame adventure would be complete without the right tunes to it. Whether you are doing "the Mario” or relaxing to the underwater theme of Donkey Kong Country, gaming scores are a perfect addition to your everyday life.

And since it would be a bit too much to carry your Switch around blasting the soundtrack of your favorite game – Nintendo just launched a new app: Nintendo Music.

As you can see in the trailer, the app allows you to listen to the music of a variety of Nintendo games. Like other music apps, you can stream or download tracks, or check out full albums or playlists.

Said playlists are based on different themes like character or mood inspired, soundtracks for your personal boss battles and a lot more – and, of course, you can create your very own playlist with the available music.

Another, very interesting sounding feature is the “spoiler prevention” setting. If you haven’t checked out a certain game and don’t want to have potential spoilers by the soundtrack of said game, you can hide tracks or whole albums, so when there is a second and third form to a Metroid boss battle, you will still be surprised and shocked by it and the background music.

And if you want to listen to specific songs even longer, there is also a function to expand some songs or put them on loop for up to 60 minutes, because maybe you didn’t get enough of the Kokiri Forest song when you got lost there for hours...

With Nintendo already stating that way more music will be added in the future, so far the app includes soundtracks of:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Metroid Prime
  • Pikmin 4
  • Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

If you want to check the app out for yourself – and have the required Nintendo Switch Online subscription – give Nintendo Music a try and let the soundtrack of your life have a power up!

What do you think about the app? A cool new feature or nothing to write home about? Tell us about it in the comments!
