Nintendo Switch Loses X-citing Feature

If you regularly post pictures on X (formerly Twitter), we're afraid we have to disappoint you today.

Nintendo will stop allowing Nintendo Switch users to share screenshots directly to X (formerly Twitter) starting June 10. This affects some features in games like Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3, where players will now instead have to save their posts internally.

Nintendo's Reason for This Decision

Nintendo says they're working closely with X to ensure users have a smooth transition. They're making these changes probably because it's gotten a lot more expensive to offer these features. Recently, the cost to use X's services jumped significantly — for example, companies might now pay around $42,000 per month, which is much more than the previous fee of $2,899 per month, so the Switch 2 will probably launch without any Twitter upload function.

This move isn't surprising, because other gaming companies like Xbox and PlayStation have ended their sharing features with X, possibly for similar cost reasons.
