Pokémon TCG Pocket will soon be getting a ranked mode. Here's everything we know so far:

Pokémon TCG Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket is a digital trading card game developed by Creatures Inc. and DeNA, and released by The Pokémon Company in October 2024 for Android and iOS. Since it is still a fairly young game, new content is added regularly, such as fresh packs.

Originally, it started with three packs – Charizard, Pikachu and Mewtwo, which were part of the Genetic Apex set. But since then, multiple new decks have been added: The Mythical Island set with a Mew pack, the Space-Time Smackdown set containing a Dialga and a Palkia pack and, most recently, the Triumphant Light set with an Arceus pack.

Additionally, the Promo-A set adds new promotional cards to the mix from time to time. But not only new cards have been added, new game features are also released on a regular basis. A trading feature was added at the end of January 2025, enabling players to swap cards of the same value if they have multiple copies. And a new feature is on its way:

Ranked Matches

During Pokémon Day 2025, it was announced that ranked matches are supposed to be introduced at the end of March 2025! This was stated in a post on the official Pokémon website, along with news on other games of the franchise:

If you’re ready to get serious and show off your battle skills, look forward to Ranked Matches, arriving in-game at the end of March. - The Pokémon Company

Unfortunately, the announcement was rather unspecific and didn't reveal how exactly this upcoming feature will work – how many ranks there will be, whether the matches will work the same way as unranked ones, what it will take to rise or fall in your rank, etc.

Still, it might be an interesting change of pace to get more suspenseful matches – after all, Pokémon TCG Pocket wants to keep things interesting so as to not lose any players. We'll see how the ranked matches will turn out and what else they have in store for us.

Until then, you better open your daily packs and try to collect strong cards in preparation for the ranked mode! Are you excitedly waiting for this new feature? What else would you like to see added to the app? Let us know in the comments!
