Good Things Take Time

While many comments on Reddit express a certain amount of dissatisfaction with the long wait, there are also many positive opinions.

Valve wants to make a leap forward in terms of technical possibilities with the Steam Deck 2, which can take time. Many comments therefore point out that six years is a reasonable amount of time to wait for Valve's next handheld console:

"6 yr difference from the first, makes perfect sense thats enough time for battery to get bigger and specs to get better, its about the timeline I had in mind anyway.“ – RockRik
„If you release the hardware before the PS6 handheld, it might not be on the same performance tier as it, meaning future AAA title support would be wishywashy.“ – FewAdvertising9647

Rumor has it that Sony will also launch a handheld console called “Canis” in late 2027 or early 2028, which could compete with Valve.

Considering the good reputation the Steam Deck has, it is understandable that Valve is focusing on quality and performance improvements in order to maintain this reputation and offer its fans a great product. So, a little more patience is needed to take advantage of the technical advances of the next few years.

What do you think? Will it be worth the wait? Let us know in the comments!
