New details for Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis were revealed during The Game Awards, and a freshly released comparison video is now giving fans a direct look at how the remake compares to the classic original.
The Game Awards brought the first real spotlight to Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, a modern reinterpretation of one of Lara Croft’s earliest adventures. Alongside the announcement, a really entertaining comparison video was released by ElAnalistaDeBits that shows footage from the original game next to the new version. This approach immediately caught the attention of longtime fans, because it puts nostalgia and modern design directly next to each other and shows the funny difference that 30 years can bring.
A Direct Look At Old Versus New
The comparison video on YouTube lets players watch the same scenes from The original Tomb Raider and the Legacy of Atlantis remake side by side. The difference is nostalgic and kind of funny.
On the left, you see blocky shapes and sharp edges with hilarious graphics from 1996, where Lara moves in big steps and the world looks like something you might imagine if you squint and tilt your head. On the right you see the 2026 remake, full of smooth movement, detailed lighting and environments that feel like real places you might want to explore.
The contrast is so clear that many viewers laughed at how much Lara has changed. A very specific body part made a few viewers jump straight into the comment section:

Developers Promise A Modern Take That Stays True
Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog describe Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis as a careful reimagining of Lara Croft’s very first adventure. The goal is to respect the original game while updating its systems for today’s players. According to the developers, Lara will still rely on her intelligence and athletic skill as she explores ancient locations inspired by jungles, ruins, deserts and forgotten islands.
Built with Unreal Engine 5, the remake is set to deliver a fully rebuilt visual experience alongside modern gameplay ideas, without losing the atmosphere that made the original so memorable. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is currently planned to release in 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
