Tony Hawk's Pro Skater: New Game's Release Date Leaked – In A CoD Map

The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has introduced an extravagant crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - but that’s not the only surprise it brought.

As first noticed by CharlieIntel on Twitter/X, the new skater-themed map Grind appears to contain a hidden teaser for an upcoming Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game. A poster within the map displays the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater logo along with a specific date: March 4, 2025. While Activision has yet to make an official announcement, this discovery has fueled speculation that a new entry in the legendary skateboarding franchise is on the way. If this date holds any weight, fans could be grinding and kickflipping through a fresh installment sooner than expected.

A Long-Awaited Comeback?

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series saw a resurgence in 2020 with the critically acclaimed remaster of the first two games, released as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The success of the remaster had players hoping for a follow-up featuring Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, but those plans were abruptly derailed when developer Vicarious Visions was absorbed into Blizzard. The project was shelved indefinitely, with Tony Hawk himself confirming in 2022 that Activision had no immediate plans to continue the remasters.

More Than Just a Coincidence

The Call of Duty easter egg isn’t the only clue pointing to the return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Pro skater Tyshawn Jones recently hinted at a new entry during an interview on a podcast, as reported by Video Games Chronicle. When asked about his involvement with the franchise, Jones casually revealed, "I'm in a Tony Hawk coming out. They got a new one they're remastering, so that's about to come out. I was in the last one."

While his statement is somewhat vague, it strongly suggests that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 could finally be in development after years of uncertainty.

Why Now?

With the massive success of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, it makes sense for Activision to revisit the series, especially as nostalgia-driven remakes continue to perform well. Given that Grind was first introduced in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, the choice to use it as a teaser location within Call of Duty seems deliberate.

Moreover, the timing aligns with Activision’s broader push for high-profile revivals. The company has been investing heavily in remasters and reboots of classic franchises, and with the skateboarding culture experiencing a resurgence, the return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater would be a logical next step.

Although no official confirmation has been given, the March 4, 2025, date suggests that an announcement could be imminent. If the game is indeed a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, fans can likely expect the same treatment given to 1+2 - updated visuals, refined gameplay, and the return of classic levels with modern enhancements.

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise has long been a cornerstone of extreme sports gaming, and if this latest leak is anything to go by, skaters and gamers alike have something huge to look forward to next year.
