Genshin Impact Review Bombed Ahead Of Huge Lantern Rite Update

It's lantern rite time in Genshin Impact, but the community is not ready to celebrate just yet. HoYoverse has landed themselves in hot water with their own fan base, who feel underappreciated after seeing the rewards they're getting in 2024.

Genshin Impact fans are not happy right now. After the 4.4 Lantern Rite rewards were revealed, huge parts of the community were outraged over the few freebies that are being given out, especially after seeing what Honkai Star Rail players are receiving.

While the international community has been complaining on Twitter/X and letting their frustration known, the large Chinese player base has taken their fight to a whole new level.

Genshin Impact Players Vs. HoYoverse: Review Bombing & Unfollowing

Genshin Impact fans have not been happy with HoYoverse for a while now. When it was revealed that Honkai players would be receiving a free 5-star character, Genshin fans had their complaints and let them know online. But there was still some hope for a decent Lantern Rite event with great rewards.

Well... that didn't happen and while the international community has been upset, the Chinese player base truly exploded. It seems that players have only received three Intertwined Fate – the limited rate-up banner currency – for three years in a row, which is where most of the anger has come from.

The follower count of Genshin Impact's BiliBili account has drastically dropped, going from around 11-million followers to just over 9-million within a day. Not only that, but the game is currently being review bombed on Chinese sites as well.

The player base is not only directing their anger towards HoYoverse, but also unfollowing other companies that have previously collaborated with Genshin Impact.

This isn't the first time players have been upset with HoYoverse. When it came around to the first anniversary of the game, the rewards were... pitiful to say the least. Back then, HoYoverse made it up to fans with better rewards at a later date, but will the community be appeased with a few more Primogems?
