Of course, we are talking about March 7th and to make her even cooler than she already is, HoYoverse decided to give her a special kind of upgrade!
Over the course of the Honkai Star Rail main story, most players will have noticed that March 7th is more than just a boring starter unit! There are a number of secrets and mysterious events surrounding her, suggesting that we may not yet know March 7th's true potential!
And it looks like we were right about that all along, since we now know, that HoYoverse has prepared a quite exciting future for our favorite little photographer!
Honkai Star Rail: March 7th Upgrade Speculation For Version 2.2
In one of the latest developers livestream, Shaoji, the chief writer of the entire Honkai series, revealed that a major mechanical change will be made to one of the community's favorite units, which turned out to be March 7th!
“Of course photos aren't reality, but if you have enough of them, doesn't reality come a little closer?” — March 7th
March 7th is a spirited girl, who got rescued from eternal ice by the Astral Express Crew and possesses the rare ability to wield “Six-Phased Ice.” Upon awakening with no memories of her past, she chose “March 7th” as her name, marking the day of her newfound life. She frequently uses her camera to take photos, hoping that one of them might reveal a clue to her forgotten history.
And exactly the last part is what will make her super unique in the end! In said livestream, the developers shared, that March 7th will gain access to a similar system as the Trailblazer, allowing her to switch combat styles.
“Maybe my past isn't behind me, but in front of me. That's why I'm gonna keep going forward, one stop at a time … train or no train.” — March 7th
However, that does not mean that she will belong to another Path, as she stays in the Preservation category. Instead, March 7th will create new memories each time the Astral Express is settling down on a new planet, which will help her to learn new fighting skills. The way how she is trying to preserve memories, allows her to get stronger and stronger as times goes on!
Leakers found out, that one of her new skill sets includes dual blades, which is as far from her cute bow as it could get! Next to that, the appearance of March 7th's new form will be inspired by her time on the Xianzhou Luofu. However, one thing that still seems to be a mystery is if her rarity will change to be a 5-Star unit instead.
To me, that sounds super exciting, and I love that HoYoverse is taking the opportunity to make an amazing character even better! It really is great to see that even the starter units as Dan Heng and Match 7th get a lot of love later on!
