The world of Genshin Impact is called Teyvat and consists of seven mainland areas in total. Each land represents one of the seven Archons and their corresponding element and. Over the course of the last three years, we could already find out about the secrets of five of the seven regions, which means there are only two more left to go!

The two elements which are currently missing are Pyro and Cryo and as we all know, several leaks and even HoYoverse themselves told us, that Pyro will in fact be the next upcoming region in 5.0!

Let's take a deep dive into everything we know about Natlan and its people.

Natlan: Estimated Release Date

First things first, even through we just recently arrived in the Hydro Archon's region Fontaine, we should slowly but surely begin to plan the next stop on our trip in advance. So when will we first arrive in Natlan?

Since the two last main updates for Genshin Impact, being 2.0 with Inazuma in 2021 and 3.0 with Sumeru in 2022, were all dated around the middle of August, we predict that the next version 5.0 will release in August 2024. This would fit their previous pattern and also aligns with the smaller version updates. Means, there is still a bunch of time to explore Fontaine and enjoy the upcoming expansions and characters!

Let's look into Natlan's background story!

Natlan: Archon & Lore

For everyone who is into the Lore behind Genshin Impact, will probably love Natlan already! HoYoverse is really letting us know, that the main story is getting heated over the course of the last big updates, especially in Fontaine. There is no time for fun and games anymore, which will be even more obvious in the land of war.

As already mentioned, Natlan will be the region of the Pyro Archon, who is the god of war. Speaking of the region's Archon, after we had three female Archons in a row we will probably get another one with Natlan! Her name is most likely Murata, the Lady of Fire. (Yes, Murata like Murata Himeko from Honkai Impact 3rd. — Do with that information whatever you want.) What we already do know about her, is that she will use a polearm as her weapon of choice and has a pretty unique way to move across terrain!

There is a pretty small, yet interesting part in the prologue of the official Genshin Impact manga about Murata:

Since there isn’t too much information on Natlan's history as of right now, we can’t tell you, if Murata still is the Pyro Archon when we will get to play in said region. However, she definitely was the leader at some point since the people of Natlan call themselves “children of Murata”.

As for me, I am super excited to find out more about the upcoming Archon! I just love how huge Genshin's lore became and how much love and effort went into building this universe. I really can’t wait to see who the Pyro Archon ends up being!

Natlan: The Land And Its People

After we learned a lot about the upcoming region's Archon, we should also take a look at the land's overall look and feel! What will the people in Natlan be like?

One of the most recent leaks provides us with some super valuable information about the Pyro regions theme and from which real life country it will be based of. It looks like that Natlan will be heavily inspired by South American tribal elements in connection with a scorched looking ground, volcanoes, and magma.

📌 Where will Natlan be located?

There is no official information on where Natlan will be found on the Genshin map, however, if we look at the options, there really is just the Sumerian desert which would fit the vibe of the Land of Fire. Maybe Natlan will be attached to said part of Sumeru.

Regarding the people from Natlan, there isn’t too much information out there. All we know, is that they live grouped up in tribes all across the land. Their hair is supposed to be red. Next to that, dragons seem to be a pretty big deal in Natlan and have undergone a long-term development and evolution with many of them coexisting with humanity.

If I had to make a prediction, in combination with the information we have about the Archon's ability to move across terrain in a special way, I think she may be half dragon who can fly across parts of the land.

Natlan: What Characters will we get?

Last but not least, let's take a look at the teased characters for Natlan. We don't have any real information on whom they will be and how they may look like, but at least we know about their gender and model.

We will most likely get …

  • 1 small character (like Nahida)
  • 5 female character in the mid height (like Kokomi)
  • 2 male characters in the mid height (like Wanderer)
  • 1 tall female character (like Raiden Shogun)
  • 1 tall male character (like Diluc)

And that wraps up all there is to know about the next Genshin region Natlan! Personally, I am super excited for more on the topic, which is why I will keep you guys up-to-date as well!
