The question isn’t just whether BG the cat can go to Syria, but whether she should.
The drama surrounding Chantal Sarault and her alleged return to Syria has taken another wild turn. Rumors that the food influencer, better known online as Foodie Beauty, has supposedly boarded a plane without her cat also highlight a broader problem within her community.
The Controversial Life of Foodie Beauty
It has long been clear that Foodie Beauty is a controversial internet personality. Fundraisers for stray cats in Kuwait and schoolgirls in Syria, with donations that have yet to reach their intended causes, are only the tip of the iceberg.
For viewers and critics alike, the main question right now is whether, when, and how Sarault will fly to Syria. Ever since the Canadian claimed she wanted to return there to her ex-husband Salah, nobody seems to know what is true and what is a lie.
Some claim Sarault simply cannot let go and hopes to win back her ex-husband, despite allegedly treating the Islamic faith she adopted for him more like a costume. Others firmly believe the trip was never actually planned and that the influencer simply wanted to get people talking about her again. After all, she allegedly already missed a recent flight at the last minute because she was told too late that she could not bring her pet cat BG into the Turkish hotel she had chosen for a stopover.
Regardless of what was actually true, critics agreed on one thing: Sarault had lied, as she so often had before.
Is Foodie Beauty Now Flying to Syria Without Her Cat?
New rumors suggesting that Foodie Beauty was spotted alone at an airport could now challenge that belief, or point to an entirely different problem altogether.
After some viewers spread a rumor that someone had encountered the food influencer at a Canadian airport and seen her traveling without her cat, critics suggested two possible scenarios: either Sarault had genuinely decided to leave BG behind and travel to Syria without her, or a fan had invented the alleged sighting to undermine those accusing Sarault of lying.
If the former is true, it would hardly come as a surprise. When Sarault previously traveled to Kuwait with Salah, she left her pets in Canada with an acquaintance, who said the cats had been in terrible condition. And Julia, the cat Sarault took with her on her first trip to Syria, was left there when she returned to Canada.
The question is less about whether the animals should be subjected to the stress of such a journey and more about whether Sarault should be moving countries at all without a compelling reason, simply on a whim. Doing so would effectively reduce the animals to decorative accessories, with no thought given to their well-being in a completely different climate.
Harmful Lies
But even if the truth is entirely different and Sarault was never at an airport, this still reflects poorly on her and her community. It has long been clear that the vast majority of her supposed supporters are anything but well-intentioned toward her.
Instead, they engage in a kind of misery tourism, wanting to see how far they can push Sarault by enabling an unhealthy lifestyle full of greasy food and as little exercise as possible, while encouraging all her fantasies, pipe dreams, and lies. Meanwhile, at least some critics say they want to give her the wake-up call she needs to get her life back on track.
Lying "for" Foodie Beauty therefore only encourages her to believe she can continue living a life steeped in falsehoods, the very thing that ultimately brought her into the difficult, life-threatening situation she now finds herself in.
