Asmongold – hated by some, celebrated by others. Known for his harsh and very controversial takes on politics and other social issues this creator gained a lot of fame. Now, he seems to not see the point in it anymore.
Asmongold is one of those creators who often seems unable to go a day without saying something controversial. Whether it's about politics or other pressing social issues, his opinions are often some of the loudest and most polarizing in the streaming community. Now, he might quit.
"What's The Point?"
In a recent clip, the streamer goes into detail explaining how he started thinking about how much weight his input on political issues even has. Though his current online presence is very centered around his political commentary, he might have now actually reached a point that finally broke the camels back.
In said clip you could see him directly explaining his reasoning to his viewers. He says:
You're not accomplishing anything by making videos about different current events whenever the only people that will watch them are only the people that already agree with them and you're not really reaching anybody, you're not putting any information out there, you're not changing anybody's opinion.
Paradoxically, this argument seems to weirdly resonate with not only his viewers but also people who don't typically enjoy his content. The concept of preaching to the choir, one that he also explicitly mentions in this clip, seems to have gotten to him.
And I did think to myself, I was like... maybe I should just quit doing this.
People With Other Opinions Seem To Be The Problem – Not Him
While the realization of only talking to people who already agree with you is a great one, Asmongold seems to only apply that logic in one direction.
What's the point doing it when everybody lies, you're talking to a wall, you're gonna tell somebody that two plus two is four, they're gonna say no it's seven and there's never gonna be a point where they listen to you.
It seems as though he believes the issue completely lies in other people – not him. According to him, his opinions and arguments seem to be the only right ones, the only ones worth listening to and the only ones that aren't being heard by the people he wants to hear them, and of course, people with differing opinions are apparently stupid.
This is quickly backed by a shocking statement later in the clip:
It's just so disappointing to me that so many people can be so stupid. It is, it's so disappointing. And I think the reason why is because everybody can vote, if you want me to be honest.
As of writing this article, Asmongold has not made a decision on the future of his commentary content yet, but remains active on his current channels.
