Spending a full month in isolation and complete darkness—what might seem like a vacation for some is the latest challenge for YouTuber Norme. He has been tackling this experiment for more than 150 hours, all while live-streaming the experience online.

Not long ago, Norme took on a No-Sleep Challenge, trying to stay awake for over 200 hours. Now, he’s back with another extreme challenge: spending an entire month without outside contact or light.

Norme’s fans actively support him through donations during his live streams, often attaching tasks for him to complete. For instance, a $5 Super Chat donation has him doing a handstand in the dark, while a $50 donation gets him to tape his mouth shut for an hour.

These messages, played aloud for both Norme and his viewers via text-to-speech, somewhat break the idea of total isolation. However, Norme occasionally leaves his self-imposed confinement for bathroom breaks and meals. For the most part, though, he remains in the darkness, muttering unintelligible phrases, professing his love to a mannequin, or using a fan as a makeshift weight.

Not all viewers have a sadistic streak. Some urge Norme, as they watch him sit in a cramped closet—barely large enough to fit a mattress—not to push himself to the brink just for views and likes.

Although the reasons for taking on such challenges are rarely compelling beyond fame, subscribers, and donations, Norme has provided some justification.According to him, he’s doing it to see if he’ll lose his sanity in the process. Still, one might wonder if coming up with such a challenge suggests he’s already crossed that line.

What do you think of this challenge? Do you think Norme will make it through the entire month? Share your thoughts in the comments!
