Both Godzilla Minus One and Oppenheimer were some of the biggest movies at the Oscars this year. Now, Christopher Nolan has just acknowledged the other Oscar winner and we might even see a collab at one point.
This year was a huge success for movies. Barbie took over cinemas, while Oppenheimer became one of the best films in years, winning multiple Academy Awards at the Oscars. And Godzilla Minus One became the franchise's first film to win an Oscar!
With Oppenheimer getting a release in Japan soon, there are more and more interviews popping up from the press tour. One of those interviews, between Godzilla Minus One director, Takashi Yamazaki, and Chrisopher Nolan has caught many people's attention. Could we be seeing a collab soon?

While you might think that Oppenheimer and Godzilla have nothing in common, you might be very wrong. While of course, one movie tells the real-life events leading up to the creation of one of the deadliest weapons in the world — the atomic bomb — the other is a story of a giant lizard monster in Japan... but Godzilla Minus One is much more than just a Godzilla film.
Godzilla Minus One takes place right after World War II, telling the story of a kamikaze pilot ridden with survivor's guilt. This story of war and destruction, from a Japanese perspective who had to deal with the fallout of the dropping of the atomic bomb could already be considered a direct response to Oppenheimer.
In a recent interview between both Nolan and Yamazaki, Nolan praises the filmmaker, not only on his Oscar winning work, but also other films like The Eternal Zero. Nolan explained that he loves the depth of the characters in these movies, as well as the "wonderful sense of history".

When asked about a direct response movie to Oppenheimer, Nolan stated that he could not think of a better director than Yamazaki.
I can't think of a better director to make a response than director Yamazaki, so I think it's a perfect suggestion. I'm always interested to see what you will be doing in the future.
So while, it isn't confirmed that the two might collab, it does show that both directors have a deep sense of respect for one another's craft, which could lead to some interesting future projects.
