Next Call of Duty playlist update: is plunder mode coming back?

The regular playlist updates resume with their usual schedule after the somewhat chaotic release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4. Warzone Rumble stays, One in the Chamber enters.

After the start of Season 4 was postponed due to the protests in the USA and several minor updates to the release were released last week, things are now returning to normal. As usual, we can expect a fresh playlist update every Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. Activision have teased what's new this week in their blog and we’re here to tell you about it.

Playlist Update

With the new mode One in the Chamber comes a Modern Warfare experience leaning on the straight up fun side of things. In this free-for-all mode, everyone plays against everyone else. You spawn with a random gun that, as the name of the playlist suggests, has only one bullet in the magazine. Every hit is fatal and a kill grants you another bullet. Each player has three lives and in the end the player who has collected the most kills wins. While definitely fun, One in the Chamber also requires high skill, or at the very least good aim, which is always a nice combination to have. We like it!

The Warzone Rumble mode introduced with Season 4 will remain in the game. The huge Deathmatch mode on Warzone's map, Verdansk, pits 50 players per side against each other and can be played by both full game owners and those who only own Warzone. All normal Battle Royale modes are brought back: solos, duos, trios and quads.

There will be new bundles in the shop as always. The Wendigo operator bundle will bring a new taiga skin for the Krueger, as well as two weapon blueprints and an ice pick as a melee weapon. Sharon Stone approves.

Notice Me III is another bundle arriving with this update. It contains the Dream Dasher skin for the Strikers, as well as a weapon pendant and a sticker and is supposed to be a real eye-catcher.

What about plunder mode?

Friday last week, a small update removed plunder mode from Warzone. The mode was very popular, so its removal caused displeasure in the community.

When asked what happened to the mode, Joe Cecot, co-design director of multiplayer at Infinity Ward, replied that it had been removed to accommodate Warzone Rumble, but would be back soon. What soon means, however, was not further explained and Activision do not mention the mode in their blog. So it remains to be seen whether the Plunder Mode will return with this playlist update.
