OG Seed, the ex-academy team of OG has split up. Each of the members chose a new path to follow and the old team is no more.Exactly a month ago, OG announced that they’ll be releasing their secondary roster OG Seed. As a gesture of goodwill though the team was to be kept within the organization for another month until they find a new place. The team consisted of:

  • Omar "Madara" Dabachach
  • Rasmus "Chessie" Blomdin
  • Andreas "Xibbe" Ragnemalm
  • Peetu-Elmeri "Peksu" Väätäinen
  • Zakari "ZfreeK" Freedman

The full month came to an end at the start of this month. News of the OG Seed disband came out on Monayon Twitter where some of the members shared an update.

Petu "Peksu" Vaatainen who captained OG Seed mentions that numerous reasons led to the hard decision. According to him most of the former players on the team already received some new offers which haven’t been revealed yet to the general public.

Zakari “ZfreeK” Freedman also joined in on the discussion and expressed his thanks towards OG.

He also mentioned that he’ll be returning to play in the NA region and will now be a free agent look for the next team. As Zfreek himself mentions, the travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak didn’t allow him to boot camp with the rest of the team.

The mid-laner of the team Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin also shared his thoughts on Twitter.

Overall everyone seems happy with the time they spent together and OG is shaping up to be a dream organization that supports its players no matter what. The global pandemic played a role in the disbanding of the team, but perhaps more impactful are the individual offers that the players got.

Where Could We See Them Next?

Zfreek is returning to NA and there’s plenty of teams he can join in there. Evil Geniuses are having some trouble lately so it won’t be too much of a surprise if we see him there. Perhaps a more likely option would be business associates as they are still missing two players.

Peksu announced that he’ll be taking a break from competitive Dota 2, so we probably shouldn’t expect him to return in the next few months.

Xibbe and Chessie are both Swedish and the natural choice would be Alliance. The team is currently playing with a loan from Gambit Esports in the face of Artsiom "fng" Barshak. Alliance have been playing without an official fifth for a while now and maybe it’s time they sign someone for good. In fact, Xibbe was already a stand-in for Alliance during the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 – Online: Europe & CIS.

Last but not least there’s Madara who has played for various teams across multiple regions. Whether he’ll remain in Europe and try to find a new team here remains to be seen.
