The Rocket League community has been shaken by the shocking diagnosis of a Rocketeer's daughter with Leukemia. Rocketeer Dasmayer's daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia, a type of blood cancer, and the community has rallied around a GoFundMe page to provide support.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood, claiming thousands of lives every year. Whilst Medical News Today reports a survival rate of 61.4 per cent, with higher survival rates among young people, it is still a highly dangerous disease, and often fatal when left untreated.
Thus, the Rocket League community has taken a stand with Dasmayer and his daughter, launching a successful GoFundMe page to provide financial support to the family during these difficult times.
The GoFundMe was set up by Anthony "C0P3x" Termini, who is the general manager of Minor League Esport's team, Express:
"One of our players, Dasmayer, endured one of the most heartbreaking things a parent can hear. Last week, his daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, a cancer that suppresses the production of blood cells... He is our teammate and we can't leave him behind, so all proceeds from this fundraiser will go to his family to help with all the associated costs of his daughter's diagnosis and treatment."
The Rocketeer's GoFundMe has a goal of $5000 USD, with about $4300 raised at the time of writing. This $5000 would go a long way to helping our fellow Rocket League player's daughter recover from such a horrible disease.
