Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the giant Warcraft universe, announced something new yesterday. In addition to the video game, numerous books, a card game, and much, much more, there is now a board game: Small World of Warcraft.

Small World of Warcraft was created in collaboration with Days of Wonder and Philippe Keyaerts. Like the current expansion, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, it illustrates the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde:

A new day dawns on Azeroth. A day like every one before it, and every one after. A day of merciless struggle for the control of the World of Warcraft. Not only is this Small World territory far too tight for everyone, it also hosts the never-ending conflict between the factions of the Alliance and the Horde. Dawn has broken and the time has come to take your place on the front lines.

What Can We Expect?

In the hostile world of Small World of Warcraft, 2-5 players compete for control of various islands by betting on the right combination of races and special abilities. Once you have secured your territory, you'll have to drive away enemies, discover legendary locations, and control powerful artifacts. But beware, every empire falls at some point - you should be prepared to bid farewell to one race and join another in taking control of Azeroth.

When Will it Be Released?

Small World of Warcraft will be released on September 30. We won't have to wait too long, and but if you're already short on patience, you can find all the game box contents, game rules, and the author's story HERE. If you would like to pre-order the game, please look HERE. We think board games are great, and when it's set in one of the most exciting fantasy worlds, we love to play.
