CoD: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 6 introduced two new weapons. One of them is the SP-R 208, a DMR that can easily compete with any sniper. Here is our Setup Guide.

These two new weapons came into play in Season 6 and can be unlocked via the Battle Pass. The new AS VAL assault rifle and the new DMR SP-R 208 were both bugged until recently, so we wanted to wait with our setup guides until they were fixed. The problem with the SP-R 208 was with a certain type of ammunition it became a hitscan weapon. Therefore, bullets had no travel time at all but hit the enemy from any distance as soon as the trigger was pulled. Infinity Ward finally fixed that.

The SP-R 208 is unlocked at level 15 of the Battle Pass and belongs to the DMR category. It can be compared to the Kar98k, because of its extremely high damage and can therefore be used as a really good sniper. Thanks to its unbelievable adaptability and its wide variety of attachments it is a true all-rounder and a reliable companion in almost any situation.

Setups

Because the SP-R 208 is so adaptable we will present to you two different setups today. One that is designed for the long distances in Warzone and another one for fast multiplayer matches.

Warzone

For long-range battles in warzone we recommend the following setup:

This setup concentrates on maximizing the range and giving you a few bonuses on top.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: SP-R 26“
  • Optic: Variable Zoom Scope
  • Magazine: .338 Lapua Mag 5-R-Mags
  • Bolt Assembly: Sloan KR-600 Feather

As always, we start off with the well-known Monolithic Suppressor, which increases your range and doesn't give you away while shooting. The barrel in turn increases range, recoil control, and bullet velocity. With the Variable Zoom Scope, you have the possibility to switch between 3.5x and 8.0x magnification, which allows you to shoot accurately even at long distances. The Bolt Assembly increases the rechamber speed and thus your rate of fire, which can save your skin in tricky situations. However, the most important attachment is the Lapua ammunition. Before the bug fix it made sure that the weapon was hitscan, but the ammo is still incredibly strong despite the fix. Lapua ammunition not only increases your range but also your bullet velocity and damage.

With this setup, you can take out armored enemies at very long range with a headshot or two quickly placed hits on the body. An HDR still outclasses the SP-R 208 at long range, but if you want to fight at medium range or if you want to quickly reload after a miss, you should go for the SP-R 208.

Modern Warfare

For the fast-paced multiplayer matches on rather smaller maps we recommend this setup:

Here we focus on mobility – fast ADS, fire rate, and sprint to fire speed are the main focus.

  • Barrel: XRK 208 Dragoon
  • Laser: Tac Laser
  • Stock: XRK SP-LITE 208 Blitz
  • Magazine: .338 Lapua Mag 5-R-Mags
  • Bolt Assembly: Sloan KR-600 Feder

Since the range does not have to be maximized in multiplayer, we do not use the monolithic suppressor and recommend the Dragoon barrel. This increases bullet velocity and also serves as a suppressor at the same time. The laser allows us to aim faster and increases target stability while the Bolt Assembly speeds up rechambering. The Lapua ammunition increases range, bullet velocity, and damage. The decisive factor in this setup is the Blitz stock. It allows us to aim down the sight faster, switch from sprinting to firing faster and walk even faster while aiming down the sight.

This setup is perfect for quick-scoping and fast-paced run-and-gun gameplay. Regardless of the distance, you will reliably get one-shots from above the upper torso and definitely have one of the strongest DMRs and snipers.

Have you already unlocked and tried the SP-R 208? Do you think it´s too strong? We love the new DMR and will definitely have it in a lot of our future loadouts.
