Who will win the internal FC Bayern Esports Cup in PES 2020? Last week, four teams of the German behemoth already battled it out in Konami’s soccer game for a chance to compete in the grand final. Now, a team of two professional footballers from the Bavarian capital will compete against FC Bayern Munich’s very own esports team.

FC Bayern Munich was never one to be stopped by anything and neither can the fact that real football is currently on hold. If they can’t get on the real pitch, they take their brilliance to the digital version: In the unique FC Bayern Esports Cup, four teams of FCB professionals competed against each other, and now, for the grand final, one of them will face the club’s own Esports Team, which was only founded in December 2019. In preparation for the event, here are the highlights of the tournament thus far on FC Bayern's YouTube channel.

FC Bayern Esports Cup: Bundesliga pros defeat women’s team and basketball squad

In the internal tournament of professional athletes, FC Bayern’s Campus Team, made up of the Bundesliga pro-players Joshua Zirkzee and Oliver Batista-Meier, was able to prevail over the renowned competition.

The two strikers defeated the FCB-Women’s team of Jacintha Weimar and Lina Magull and then dusted the FCB Basketball’s Diego Flaccadori and Nihad Djedovic. In the internal finals, the German-Dutch striker duo then went on to even beat the big team’s defensive stalwarts: David Alaba and Javi Martínez stood no chance against Weimar and Magull.

The Campus Team breezed to a 4-1 finals victory. Not only that, but they also took the lead in the eFootball PES 2020’s online mode by scoring a goal with the virtual Javi Martínez. Martínez scores on Martínez. Does that count as an own goal?

The grand final of the FC Bayern Esports Cup: Starting at 17:00

The youngsters may have won the internal pro-athletes tournament, but surely esports athletes are a different beast altogether, right? We’ll find out, and we’re certain the esports team is ready to prove their worth in the grand finals.

Can the Bundesliga professionals keep up with the virtual stars Alex Alguacil, José Carlos Sánchez and Miguel Mestre? And how many goals will the digital Robert Lewandowski contribute?

The answer to these and other questions will be given in the grand final of the FC Bayern Esports Cup, which will be broadcast on FC Bayern’s Esports channels from 17:00 CET today. The exciting match can be followed live and in full length on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

You can also watch the match on FC Bayern’s Esports Twitch channel.
