This week in our two-part series, we will bring you closer to the Brazilian esports superstar Marcelo “coldzera” David. Here, you will find all there is to know about coldzera, including his personal life, social media channels how he started out.

Early days

Born on October 31st, 1994 in São Paulo, Marcelo Davidbecame one of the best CS:GO players that ever touched this FPS title under the moniker of "coldzera". Just like every other esports athlete, Marcelo fell in love with gaming at a very young age.

When he was a little boy, he constantly played Counter-Strike with his brother Rafael. At the time, his big bro was very good at the game and he often made fun of him.

“He was horrible. We even mocked him” Rafael David

This statement hit coldzera hard. He started grinding and he played Counter-Strike 24/7. And it paid off – it did not take him long to overcome his brother.

His individual skill and game sense were through the roof and he established his own team before turning 18. The funny thing is, he had to keep this away from his parents as they were not supportive of him gaming all the time.

It did not take long for him to become popular, either. After a couple of events with his team, Fernando "fer" Alvarenga gave him a call and pursued a contract for coldzera to join Luminosity Gaming.

Despite his mother being supportive of him, Marcelo did not get the approval from his dad. Marcelo's father wanted him to continue the family business. But eventually, Marcelo was allowed to go overseas and this is how his career started.

“As a father, I would not let you go. But as a friend, I believe that you must go after your dreams.” Mauro David

Coldzera social media channels, followers and Twitch

Just like every other esports athlete out there, coldzera is keeping his social media profiles active. Alongside Twitter and Instagram, you can also enjoy his Twitch stream that can be found on the link below. Here are also his follower numbers. As you can see from the numbers above, coldzera is quite popular, with over 600,000 followers on the most popular social networks. However, his Twitch channel is not that frequently visited since he barely streams due to his crowded CS:GO schedule.

Marcelo "coldzera" David – personal life and things you probably didn't know

Did you know that coldzera has been the best CS:GO player of the year... twice in a row? These accolades he won in 2016 and 2017 during his time with SK Gaming. Alongside these two trophies, he'swon a total of 14 events so far in his career.

During his early days, he was considered a player that would say things directly to someone’s face. However, he took things a bit too far while posting on Twitter where he talked about Gustavo "SHOOWTiME" Gonçalves.

“It’s hard to play with someone who does not know the basics of CS.”

Ever since Marcelo joined FaZe, he came very close with another pro – Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. If you pay attention to his Instagram stories, you can see that they go out often. He even visited Nikola in Serbia.

If we take a closer look at Marcelo’s net worth, we can spot that he won around $1 million just from prize money. Alongside that, he also earns a decent salary + sponsorship money. All in all, his net worth could be worth well over $2 million.

When he was a young kid, Marcelo was considered a very talented soccer player. He was offered a chance to sign a professional contract but his father stopped it. This is why coldzera refused to walk away from professional CS:GO.

All in all, coldzera definitely belongs in the list of the best CS:GO players. To find out how good his professional career really is, make sure you tune into Part 2 of our journey into the life and times of coldzera where we will talk about his individual achievements, team awards and so much more.
