EPICENTER’s next event is BEYOND EPIC and it’s starting this Monday. Yesterday the final two teams for the Europe/CIS region were made clear.

BEYOND EPIC will include some of the best teams from Europe, CIS and China. EU and CIS will play together in one combined region while Chinese teams will only get to play against other Chinese teams. A total of twelve teams will participate in the EU/CIS region with 10 getting direct invitations and two coming from a closed qualifier. The latter came to an end yesterday and the winners who made it are Vikin.gg and Team Empire Hope.

The EU/CIS closed qualifier featured a total of eight teams:

  • Vikin.gg
  • EXTREMUM
  • Team Empire Hope
  • FlyToMoon 2.0
  • Cyber Legacy
  • B8
  • Cyberium.S
  • Family Team

After the conclusion of the group stage, only the top two teams from each of the groups made it into the playoffs. The leaders in Group A were B8 and Vikin.gg while Group B was dominated by EXTREMUM and Team Empire Hope. In the upper bracket finals of the playoffs, B8 met Empire Hope and the latter took the series 2:0.This sent Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and his squad to the lower bracket where they faced Vikin.gg. The series went exactly the same way, with a 2:0 victory for the Vikings. B8 were on an amazing losing streak until recently when they made some serious roster changes. Dendi was the only player who remained in the team as the organization put some new blood in the team. Now B8 are struggling once again, will they finally start winning?

With Empire Hope and Vikin.gg the list of teams for the EU/CIS region is complete.

  • Alliance
  • Team Secret
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Nigma
  • Natus Vincere
  • OG
  • Virtus.pro
  • FlyToMoon
  • Team Unique
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Vikin.gg
  • Team Empire Hope

The groups for the event were also revealed today.

Group A is seriously stacked with Team Secret, Team Nigma and OG. On the other hand, we have group B where there's no clear favorite except maybe Alliance. BEYOND EPIC is set to kick off on June 15 and will last for around two weeks, eventually coming to an end on June 28. Team Secret might be the favorites to take the champions title but it’s nice to see Tier 2 teams making it to the big stage. Who knows maybe we’ll see some surprises?
