Valorant Act 3 is officially out as of October 14, and today we take a first look at the new map, Icebox. The Map is large and complicated, so we will highlight a couple of key areas you should know.

The new Valorant map Icebox is finally available to play on, and it is easily the most vertical map to date. There are dozens, if not more high ground positions you can take on boxes, ledges, and catwalks. Today we preview a few of the important areas but plan to write a more comprehensive map guide in the days to come.

Icebox Mini-Map

The mini-map for Icebox shows numerous basic callouts, but it’s always best to develop your own callouts with your squad. Take a look and you will get a basic idea of how the map will play.

Defender Side Spawn

The Defenders start inside a bunker and have three main paths they can take: towards A site, middle, or towards B site. The run to A site is shorter than the run to B site and seems to have far fewer corridors and approaches to defend. Looking at the mini-map, A site is possibly easier to defend than B.

Attacker Side Spawn

You spawn inside a big tanker ship and have two very long runs to both A and B bomb sites, but a short jog to the middle lane that opens you up to attack all areas of the map. Control the mid and you control the game? It is too early to know if this is true, but it sounds like a good starting strategy. Let’s take a look at’ bomb site A.

Icebox: Bomb Site A

While bomb site A only has three entrances, inside the actual bomb site is complete chaos. Calling it a parkour track would be apt, and if you add in the zip line it looks like a kid’s playground! Hiding spots, high ground angles, and sniper nests this bomb site has it all. Here in this image below, we see a killer sniper spot that has the best view of bomb site A. Expect to see a Jett or Omen waiting to blow your head off with an Operator.

Brace yourself, because bomb site B will blow your socks off! While touring this map, there were so many angels and entrances to cover that a squad of ten couldn’t cover them all. Also, you can place the bomb inside the second level of the stacked shipping boxes. Attacking and defending bomb site B is not going to be easy and it won’t be surprising if most squads try to fight it out in A site before daring to venture into the depths of hell which is B site.

Fun little easter eggs await you around the map of Icebox, multiple snowmen! Look for them, love them, they are cute to boot! We'll see you in the kitchen for some pizza and hot chocolate.

Can you find them all?

Overall, Icebox looks like a complex map with lots of long tight corridors and many high ground spots. So be on your guard, and make sure to look up!
