Valorant Weapon Guide – Part 5: Marshal

Valorant has agents with abilities but weapons are still the most important aspect. Take a closer look with our guide, as today we continue with the Marshal.

At the moment there are 17 weapons in Valorant, but we can expect even more to be added in the future. The variety is great: From the sniper to the shotgun, to the assault rifle. The tactical shooter lives up to its name, but which weapon is suitable for which agent? Which strategy should one pursue with which weapon and what is the shooting pattern, damage, and the rate of fire? Read on to find out.

The Marshal - it's time to no-scope

What is the neat sniper of today wearing? That's right, the Marshal. Instead of making the operator loud BOOM like the other sniper in the game, the Marshal dismantles his opponents quietly and stylishly. Hurry there, snip and adios! You need good aim and agility for this. Run-and-gun meets sniping.

Damage, fire rate, and more

The Marshal is the less noisy brother of the Operator. Let's start by saying that a body shot against an unarmored opponent will take them down, as it does 101 damage. A headshot will always result in a kill as it inflicts 202 damage. It has a 2.5x zoom which should be enough to land precise shots most of the time. Much like the Operator, it doesn't have any damage drop off up to 50 meters. The Marshal's fire rate is 1.5 shots per second and that's twice as fast when compared to the OP. It has a rather small magazine with only 5 bullets. In the rare cases, you have to reload, you might find yourself in trouble. Worry not though as The Marshal is also good in close range thanks to its hip-fire accuracy. If you want to no-scope an opponent then this is the better sniper. The Marshal also has medium wall penetration so wall-banging is an option in most cases.

Marshal strategy

Hide, aim, shoot. That's true of a lot of snipers, but the Marshal is different. Because while we usually prefer to lie in wait with sniper rifles, the Marshal is such an agile choice that people prefer to use it to keep points or even take over. Getting around a corner with a well-aimed shot and taking out the enemy in the process makes much more sense with this sniper than waiting for the enemy to find you.

When should I buy the Marshal?

With a cost of 1.100 credits this sniper is an excellent deal. It's over four times cheaper than the Operator. Four times! The Marshal is an excellent choice when you want to force buy as it won't stretch your budget too much. You might even get some kills and hinder your opponent's economy. The lightweight sniper is also great when facing an enemy eco, as anyone without a shield will instantly go down with a single shot.

The best agents for the Marshal

The Marshal can be used by basically every agent in the game, but as usual, some are better than others. Any agent which has an ability that allows them to get information on an enemy's location is great. This includes Sova with his Recon Bolt, Cypher's traps and camera. Another good option would be Reyna, who can get the jump on an enemy with her Leer. This will also allow her to potentially reap an orb for her other abilities.
