Warlords of draenor — 7. Warlords of Draenor – What was supposed to be an exciting journey into the past of the orcs turned out to be a disappointment thanks to dull daily quests. Let's face it: in the end, you only spent half the day in the garrison anyway. (Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment)

Battle for azeroth — 6. Battle for Azeroth – Undoubtedly a more solid expansion than Draenor but lacking in highlights. Sure: story-wise WoW is really making a big effort here, but the grind until then is just annoying. Well, another artifact leveling? Sylvanas/Nathanos love? Ehh. Mists of pandaria — 5. Mists of Pandaria – Pandas. Well, apart from the Pandaren, the fourth WoW expansion had a lot more to offer. What started out as a disguised April Fool's joke, culminated in the most atmospheric add-on ever. It was just all so beautiful, BUT! So much went wrong with the grind there, the farmer quests where Azeroth's heroes had to grow turnips was just... such a jarring change of tone. It also contrasted wildly with WoW's otherwise classical fantasy style. (Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment)

Wow cataclysm — 5. Cataclysm – the Dragon Aspect expansion was the most ambitious one Blizzard has ever released. But the plan was not to succeed. Deathwing had wiped every idyllic place from the map of Azeroth, and with it, part of the fascination that was WoW. Not to mention the disappointing boss battle, where you're pounding on armor plates for minutes on end. Did you try the heroic version back then? It was harder than the final boss himself. Burning crusade — 3. The Burning Crusade – the first ever WoW expansion. It definitely brought a breath of fresh air to the MMORPG and it improved on the original. With the Draenei and Blood Elves, the expansion brought two popular races with it and introduced the flying mounts. For this alone we are grateful. (Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment)

Wow legion — 2. Legion – After the disappointing Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard had to convince long-time fans. The idea banked on impressive new areas, varied quests, lots of end-game content and unique class content. Yep, Legion was a huge success. It takes second place on this list only because Blizz could have made Argus a real expansion instead of whatever BfA was. (Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment)

World of warcraft wrath of the lich king — 1. Wrath of the Lich King – What else can you say about the legendary WotLK? Beautiful, Nordic game world? Check! Thrilling story? Check! Arthas himself? Check! A cool new class, the death knight? Double check. Wrath of the Lich King is still unique today, and rightfully our number one expansion. Now go watch the intro for the millionth time. Today, we rank them from bad to good.
