Famous Twitch personality and former Overwatch pro Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel was signed over as a streamer by Luminosity Gaming and he’ll join them for their Rising Stars event.

Félix "xQc" Lengyel last played competitive Overwatch for the Gladiators Legion when filled in the team’s lineup as a substitute. Ever since then, he has stepped away from professional play and we haven’t seen him on the scene. xQc spends his time streaming on Twitch for his wide audience and up until late August, he had a contract with Sentinels.

Yesterday he announced a new chapter in his career as an influencer as he was signed over by Luminosity Gaming. The North American esports organization has teams in Apex Legends, Fortnite and it’s also running the Vancouver Titans in the Overwatch League. Luminosity Gaming already has a wide array of streamers under contract but xQc will be the biggest one they’ve hired.

The Rising Stars event

What is the event all about? We like to imagine it’s something similar to “America’s got talent” but in a digital format and with streamers. Organized by Enthusiast Gaming, the event will feature a total of 40 contestants. One of them will become the next gaming superstar and receive a $100,000 sponsorship with Luminosity Gaming and also join its roster of star streamers which already includes xQc, Anomaly, Muselk, Fresh and RockyNoHands.

CEO of Enthusiast Gaming, Adrian Montgomery commented:

We are building the largest social network of communities for gamers and esports fans, and the Rising Stars series is yet another way we connect and interact with our 300 million monthly gamers to provide exciting and engaging content. It’s only natural for us to look within these communities for the next rising star, which is comparable to popular shows, ‘American Idol’ or ‘The Voice,’ but for gaming. Gaming is the social network for the Gen-Z and Millennial audience, and we are confident Rising Stars is something that is not only wanted and craved, but that it is also inspirational and aspirational to those watching and competing. As we continue to grow our brand and esports organization, we believe in the importance of keeping true to our communities, and all that they stand for.

Anyone who tans to apply and get a shot at fame and glory can sign up at Risingstars.gg until October 10. The event itself will take place between October 13 and November 5, every Tuesday and Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. ET. You can tune in on the official live stream on Twitch.
