Laura Axtmann

My connection to fantasy runs deep — not just in games, but across books, anime, and film. Worlds with magic, mystery, and emotional weight have always been a source of fascination.

My gaming journey began with a pink DS Lite and Nintendogs, but the true spark came with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Since then, fantasy open worlds — especially those crafted by Nintendo — have been at the heart of my passion. From the vast silence of Breath of the Wild to the quiet joy of endless hours in Animal Crossing, I gravitate toward games that blend comfort with complexity.

Currently studying communication science and psychology, I aspire to bring a research-based perspective to gaming. My bachelor’s thesis explored media addiction, laying the foundation for a broader interest in game design and the psychology of play. How games hook us, comfort us, and sometimes even challenge us — these are the questions that drive my writing.

Beyond theory, I have hands-on creative experience in digital artwork, including commissions inspired by Splatoon, where I also dipped my toes into low-level competitive play.
