The horror of Nevermore returns once more. As Wednesday states on the newly released poster: "Bad things come in threes".

Netflix’s hit series Wednesday is far from dead (metaphorically).
Even before its much-anticipated second season hits screens, Netflix has confirmed that a third season is officially on the way and it already has a poster to prove it.

Co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough emphasized the collaborative effort behind the show’s success:
“Television has – and always will be – a team sport. Miles [Millar] and I have been doing this long enough to know that shows like this don’t come along every day. It’s such an alchemy of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans. We remain grateful and excited to continue this journey and tell these stories with all of our partners.”
Gough added that their mission for Season 3 remains consistent:
“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can.”
Miles Millar (co-creator and showrunner) hinted at where the story might go next:
“We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3.”
The hint leaves us wondering: Which relatives might join the story? Fans are speculating that characters such as Ophelia Frump (Morticia’s sister), Cousin Itt, Pubert Addams or even Eudora Addams (the family’s grandmother) could make an appearance.
A Predictable Renewal For A Record-Breaking Hit
The announcement for a third season doesn’t come as a surprise. Wednesday became a cultural hit upon its debut, bringing international fame to its lead actress, Jenna Ortega.
Rumors of a third season had circulated for months, with reports suggesting filming could begin in November 2025.
Given the early renewal, Season 2 may end on a major cliffhanger, leaving fans waiting for answers until Season 3 arrives.
Jenna Ortega’s Future With The Show
However, fans might not want to get too comfortable. Ortega has previously stated that her long-term goal is to transition fully into film, calling into question how long the show will continue for. In fact, Ortega revealed in a 2023 interview that she had initially turned down the role of Wednesday Addams multiple times:
“I got the email, passed on it. I had done so much TV in my life. All I’ve ever wanted to do is film. [...] I was scared that by signing on to another television show it could prevent me from doing other jobs I really wanted and cared about.”
With projects like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and several films already lined up, Ortega seems to have achieved that dream, making it possible that Season 3 could be her last performance as Wednesday Addams.
Ultimately, official details about new characters and plotlines will likely remain under wraps for some time. But with Season 2 arriving on August 6, let's keep a close eye (or hand) on what mysterious events are to come.
