Battlefield 2042 unfortunately didn't get off to a great start, and even after numerous updates, there's still a lot wrong with the game. Many bugs and glitches have been fixed in the meantime, but that doesn't change the fact that there is still far too little content in the game. Seven maps and an absolutely meager weapon selection couldn't really impress the fans of the series. The fact that the first season, and thus new content, still hasn't started even months after the release doesn't make the whole thing any better. So it's not a big surprise that the community is pissed off and many players would like to get their money back.

Since the player numbers of Battlefield 2042 are constantly falling and meanwhile older titles of the series have more players than the current one, Steam has now decided to offer refunds for BF2042 to players against their own policy.

Steam Breaks own Rules for BF2042 Refunds

Normally, games can only be refunded on Steam if the purchase was made no more than 14 days ago and the game in question has not been played for more than 2 hours. Even then, it's not guaranteed that you'll get a refund, but those are usually the main requirements when you want to return a game on Steam. However, it seems that Steam has now gotten around to giving some players a refund for Battlefield 2042 despite buying it longer ago or playing it for more than 2 hours. In this reddit post we see that the user Ruboserg was successful with his request:

After the player's request was initially rejected due to longer playing time, he wrote to Steam again and was refunded the purchase price for Battlefield 2042 after another review. Whether Steam will disregard its own guidelines for every disappointed Battlefield player, however, is not a given. Those who bought Battlefield 2042 on Steam and absolutely want to refund their game can definitely try their luck, though. If you can bring up good arguments in your request, you might get your money back.

What about other Platforms?

Sorry, but if you bought Battlefield on Origin or even for a console, you'll have to look for other ways. We haven't heard of any refund options here. Unless of course you bought the game as a physical disc, then you'll just have to find someone stupid enough to let you talk them into buying the game....

What do you think of Battlefield 2042? Do you also want to get rid of the game as soon as possible, or do you just leave it for a bit and check it out again when Season 1 starts?
