Thanks to their latest partnership with Twitch, esports event organizers BLAST are making their entrance into Riot's tactical shooter with a brand-new BLAST Valorant event, the BLAST Twitch Invitational.

In case you thought there won’t be any big Valorant events this week, think again. BLAST and Twitch are here with a big surprise for all Valorant fans. This Friday, September 11, the BLAST Twitch Invitational will feature some of the best teams in Europe along with a prize pool of €50,000. The event will continue through the weekend and the winner will be decided on Sunday.

Valorant’s esports scene has grown exponentially over the last few months. Riot Games started the Ignition Series - A series of tournaments created in partnership with players, teams, content creators, and tournament organizers from all over the world focused on building the VALORANT competitive ecosystem. So far, the tactical shooter has managed to remain popular as more and more professional players from other titles are still switching to it.

Nicolas Estrup, Director of Product and Experience at BLAST, commented:

VALORANT has enjoyed record-breaking success since its launch in June and has fast become a fan-favorite - we look forward to showing the community what BLAST can bring to the table with our industry-leading production and popular fan-first approach. This tournament will be the final Ignition Series for European teams and will give viewers the platform to watch some of the world’s best VALORANT talent go head-to-head.

Stuart Wettenhall, Senior Business Development Manager EMEA at Twitch added:

Valorant has been embraced wholeheartedly by our first-person shooter community on Twitch around the world. From the best talent through to co-streaming in multiple languages, we hope to deliver a truly unique, live, interactive, and engaging experience to this global fanbase.

Teams competing in the BLAST Twitch Invitational are FunPlus Phoenix, NiP, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid. The event will consist of a double-elimination best-of-three format and a best-of-five final. There will be no group stage, as the teams will directly enter the playoffs. While the number of teams isn’t that impressive what we’re looking forward to is the quality of the matches. G2 are the undisputed champions of the region as they’ve won every single event they’ve attended. Will that change in the upcoming tournament?

The event will kick off this Friday at 15:30 CEST and you can catch the full action on the official BLAST Twitch channel.
