Top 10 Esports titles of 2020

1-10

We love esports

Crucible screen
10. CRUCIBLE (AMAZON GAME STUDIOS): This is an odd one because the game’s not out yet, but lists are always best kicked off with something unexpected. Crucible is looking to be big. Say what you will about the morals behind the Bezos money but this game has the funding and the ambition: Overwatch in third person meets a League of Legends and Dota set-up. Sound interesting. Sounds like it could be special. We’re looking forward to when the game drops on May 20th. (Image credit: Amazon Game Studios)
Overwatch screen
9. OVERWATCH (BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT): It hasn’t been the easiest year for Overwatch: Balancing issues and player complaints were piling up and just as Blizzard was getting it together, the Coronavirus and Valorant hit. Now the game just lost it’s reigning MVP Sinatraa to Valorant. It’s tough out here for this hero shooter. Still, Overwatch is a unique game, we still enjoy it and it will definitely remain one of the bigger esports titles for this year. (Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment)
Fifa screen 2
8. FIFA (EA SPORTS): Ultimate Team and microtransactions aside, Fifa is still, at its core, a very good football game with very competitive leagues. Particularly now, in the absence of traditional sports, esports and Fifa are stepping up and reaching new audiences. We expect this to continue for some time and enjoy watching well organized, official digital football. (Image credit: EA Sports)
Wild rift screen
7. WILD RIFT (RIOT GAMES): Another game that’s not out yet, but we are certifiably hyped for Wild Rift: Riot Games is bringing a revamped League of Legends to consoles and mobile. The game will be optimized the new platforms and, knowing Riot, this is gonna be super polished and have incredible support. We fully expect this to soar up in the esports charts. There can never be enough League of Legends anyway. (Image credit: Riot Games)
Fortnite sceen
6. FORTNITE (EPIC GAMES): Fortnite is another game that is definitely feeling the heat from the major competitor that is Valorant. Worse than that, Fortnite has more competition in Apex Legends and especially Call of Duty Warzone. Still, no other game has the building aspect that makes Fortnite so unique and fun. We love it because it’s more than just a shooter and for that reason, Fortnite is not going anywhere anytime soon. (Image credit: Epic Games)
Dota screen
5. DOTA 2 (VALVE): Dota 2 will always be Dota 2. Until Valve decides to succeed its own game, this one is a mainstay as one of the biggest esports titles around. Whether you prefer League of Legends or Dota ist mostly subjective, but we love Dota for its different pace and are going to spend many more hours in 2020 watching this complex MOBA behemoth. Warzone screen
4. CALL OF DUTY (ACTIVISION): Call of Duty has once again hit it big: Warzone is huge and we love it. The actual war-zone feel, the gulag, the size of the battles… Warzone has already become part of our rotation and is one of the biggest titles around. It’s hard to imagine this changing anytime soon. Few games have ever reached such popularity in such a short time span. (Image credit: Activision)
Valorant sceen
3. VALORANT (RIOT GAMES): Riot Games’ second entry on this list, but this one is actually released… well, barely. Valorant is still in its beta but already making waves. This tactical shooter brings a breath of fresh air to a genre that was basically monopolized by CS:GO. We love seeing the aspect of hero abilities and all the character it brings to the genre. We’re already watched more Valorant than we should and this will only get worse when the game fully releases. #3 for a beta game… not bad. (Image credit: Riot Games)
Cs screen
2. CS:GO (VALVE): Another Valve game and another mainstay in every esports top 5. CS:GO has been around longer than some of you reading this and it’s the shooter of a generation. It finally got some serious competition in Valorant, but we’re thinking this is only going to make CS:GO even better. What a time to be a tactical-shooter fan. (Image credit: Valve)
Lol screen
1. LEAGUE OF LEGENDS (RIOT GAMES): The third Riot Games game on this list and the one that started it all for the company. League of Legends is arguably the biggest esports in the world and trailblazed esports into the mainstream. This MOBA just doesn’t get old and it’s actually hard to imagine it ever going away. Like CS:GO, League of Legends has transcended into being a permanent fixture… or would you be surprised if we’re still watching and playing LoL ten years from now? (Image credit: Riot Games)

The year is almost halfway done and 2020 hasn’t exactly been a huge success thus far. If there is any sort of positive to all that’s been going on is that we’ve got more time for one of our favorite pastimes: Gaming. Also, while many esports events had to be canceled, the ability to compete online and lack of traditional sports has pushed esports into the mainstream even more, so let’s look at the biggest esports titles of 2020 - more specifically, the ones we’re enjoying the most.
