Submachine guns (SMGs) have dominated the Call of Duty: Mobile meta for a significant period, with the CBR4, MAC-10, and the PPSh-41 standing out as exceptionally powerful options.

Despite facing multiple nerfs, particularly the CBR4 and MAC-10 in recent months, these two weapons have managed to maintain their superiority as the best SMGs in the game.

However, with the introduction of Season 5: Get Wrecked, things might change. To help determine their current standing, we've compiled an SMG tier list, ranking them from best to worst.

COD: Mobile Season 5 – SMG Tier List

Generally speaking, SMGs excel in close-quarters combat and perform admirably up to medium range. These lightweight firearms boast low recoil and incredibly fast time-to-kill (TTK).

Furthermore, SMGs offer numerous attachments to customize them according to individual play styles. Over several seasons, SMGs have undergone balance changes, with many previously underperforming guns receiving buffs to achieve better balance within the weapon class. Consequently, Season 5 introduces several viable SMGs to choose from.

In COD: Mobile Season 5, there are a total of 22 SMGs. The latest addition is the OTs 9, introduced in Season 5: Get Wrecked. Our SMG tier list ranks these guns from S (the best) to D (the worst), providing explanations for their respective placements.

S-Tier

  • CBR4
  • PPSh-41
  • MAC-10
  • GKS

The CBR4 has consistently maintained its position in the S-tier due to its outstanding performance, remaining one of the best SMGs despite recent nerfs. With a high fire rate and minimal recoil, it epitomizes the classic SMG archetype.

In Season 2, it received a longer reload time, and the movement speed bonus from the YKM Light Stock was reduced. However, these changes have not significantly impacted its incredible power.

The recently buffed MAC-10 secures the second spot. Its increased damage range in Season 11 makes it ideal for players who prefer close-quarters engagements, utilizing cover to get as close as possible to opponents.

Claiming the third spot is the PPSh-41, which received buffs in the Season 8 weapon balance changes and has consistently remained a top-tier SMG. It exhibits accuracy up to medium range, minimal recoil, and boasts a high base magazine capacity. This Soviet-era weapon has the potential to dominate any lobby.

Joining the S-tier as a newer addition is the GKS, which was buffed in Season 2. Pro players favor it for its low time-to-kill (TTK), although its effectiveness depends on individual skill level.

A-Tier

  • OTs 9
  • KSP 45
  • MSMC
  • Switchblade X9
  • Fennec
  • ARG .556
  • HG40

The A-tier features several SMGs, particularly after the Season 11 weapon balance changes that buffed numerous firearms.

The KSP 45 distinguishes itself from other SMGs with its burst fire mode and impressive range, making it a formidable choice for mid-range encounters—precision is key.

On the other hand, the Switchblade X9 falls in line with the characteristics of MAC-10-inspired SMGs – compact, lightweight, and rapid-fire. However, it lacks the same punch as the MAC-10, earning it a place in the A-tier.

The MSMC underwent adjustments in Season 9, increasing its close-range damage while reducing its effectiveness at longer distances. It remains a solid SMG choice, especially when equipped with suitable attachments.

The RUS-79U, Fennec, HG40, and ARG .556 retain their positions in the A-tier.

B-Tier

  • LAPA
  • Cordite
  • QQ9
  • PP19 Bizon
  • MX9
  • Razorback
  • PDW-57

There are numerous options available in the B-tier, including the recently buffed HG 40 and MX9, as well as the latest addition to the weapon class, the LAPA.

The MX9 stands out for its considerable power, offering increased damage that results in more consistent four- and five-shot kills.

The HG40 also received significant buffs to its damage range, enabling it to excel in medium-range duels and providing a distinct weapon profile within the class.

It's worth noting the PP19 Bizon, which is an incredibly user-friendly firearm with versatile qualities. If you're looking for a jack-of-all-trades SMG, this one fits the bill.

The Razorback and PDW-57, which also received buffs in Season 11, maintain their positions in the B-tier.

C-Tier

  • QXR
  • Pharo

Among the SMGs in the C-tier, the most intriguing one is the Pharo, which underwent a rework before Season 8.

Although its damage range has been noticeably reduced, it now offers improved recoil control and behaves more similarly to a MAC-10. If you enjoy engaging in close-quarters combat, this is a viable option.

D-Tier

  • Chicom

Despite receiving buffs back in Season 8, there is still little reason to opt for the much-criticized Chicom. Get rid of it as soon as you can.
