Warzone's Downtown Will Be Destroyed Next Week

In the trailer for Warzone Season 6, we saw a dark future for Verdansk. It's a hell of a way to say goodbye to the old warhorse...

Nakatomi Plaza, PD, Bank, TV Station - all gone, potentially. This could be one of the biggest map changes we've ever received for Verdansk, and needless to say, we're hyped. Details below.

When Will Downtown Be Destroyed?

Downtown will be reduced to rubble in Season 6 - which begins next week on Thursday, October 7 at 00:00 ET (05:00 BST, 06:00 CEST). We don't yet know whether this will begin at the beginning of the event or not. But with Zombie returning two weeks into the season and Vanguard being released during the midseason, it actually might come immediately. They won't want to implement this map change too close to everything else; no need to use all the earth, wind, and fire at once.

Like keeping up to speed with all things Call of Duty?

Why Will Downtown Be Destroyed?

Time for a very quick history lesson into the lore of Verdansk.

  • The city of Verdansk was being rebuilt in the 80s by Nato and the Soviet Union. Working together like that was a sign that the Cold War was coming to an end.
  • The 'bad guys' in Warzone didn't want the Cold War to end, they want the Perseus program to bring back a greater Russia.
  • The 'bad guys' captured one of the good guys (Adler) and brainwashed him into setting these bombs beneath the city to destroy it and everything it represents.
  • Downtown, at least, will be destroyed this season while the 'good guys' try and put a stop to the 'bad guys' before they can do more damage.

That was your very brief explanation of where we are now and why any of this is happening.

No more Nakatomi, but are you happy for them to end Verdansk like this? Why not warm up in Rebirth, then hit Verdansk? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter, and remember, you should consider joining MyEarlyGame today for exclusive tourneys and loads of great giveaways!
