Heartstopper's season 2 just hit Netflix on August 3, 2023 and fans are over the moon. The story of Nick, Charlie and the rest of the crew continues with eight brand-new episodes, but what about Season 3? Will it happen?
Good news everyone: not only did Netflix commission a second season last year, but they also asked for a third season at the same time. So it's not a question of if we get Heartstopper Season 3, but rather a question of when. Here's everything we know so far!

Heartstopper Season 3 Is In The Works And Fans Go Nuts
In early September, Netflix made countless Heartstopper fans ecstatic by sharing some great news: creator Alice Oseman is already working on season 3 and the first episode has a promising title: "Love."

Not to spoil anything, but book readers went crazy with joy about what's to come, especially one scene from the graphic novel that's gonna be the base of Heartstopper's season 3. It's gonna be steamy – if you know, you know.
Heartstopper Season 3 | Possible Release Date
Season 3 is supposed to have another eight episodes and if we're lucky, Netflix will stick to the formula of a new season every year. That means Heartstopper season 3 will likely hit the streaming service in mid-2024.
What's on Netflix reported that filming for Heartstopper's third season is supposed to start filming in October 2023 in London. For reference: season 2's filming began in September 2022, so if everything goes according to plan, summer or fall 2024 seems pretty realistic.
Alice Oseman, the head and the heart behind the show, has already picked up her pen again and it's not rocket science to guess that director Euros Lyn will join her as well. But what about the rest of the cast?
Heartstopper Season 3 | Returning Cast & Plot
Don't you worry: this is all spoiler-free. Just a friendly reminder that you can read how the story will most likely continue. Here's where season 2 ended and the graphic novels pick up the plot.
Season 1 and 2 covered the events of the graphic novels up to volume 4, meaning that it makes the most sense that season 3 will cover volume 5. The catch with that? The fifth graphic novel isn't even out yet, so we're left to speculate at this point. Maybe keep an eye on it as a potential Christmas gift, though: Heartstopper's (the graphic novel) volume 5 will release on December 19, 2023.
