Netflix is adapting Avatar: The Last Airbender into a live-action series and it seems some of the main cast selections were leaked: Aang, Katara, Sokka and Zuko are all set.

We won't talk about the Shyamalan movie. In fact, I won't mention it again beyond this point, because, I don't know about you, but that one hurt. It's the one we're all trying to forget. Live-action failed us then but still, I, for one, am hyped for another run at a live-action version of Avatar and Netflix is working on exactly that.

It was supposed to be the redemption story and things were looking up, but then... the official creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko stepped down as showrunners due to creative differences. Yup. Red flag, right? The original creators said Netflix wasn't particularly supportive during production, and the rumor mill says that Netflix wanted to turn Avatar into something darker. Whatever the truth, we might never know, but here is the original IG announcement from Bryan Konietzko:

Netflix Avatar Show Found Its Main Cast

Despite this, the show must go on. Duh, the saying exists for a reason. The fan page Avatar News is keeping up to date with all the happenings around this show, and it is thanks to them that we know the actors behind the lead characters:

  • Gordon Cormier will portray Aang
  • Kiawentiio Tarbell will play Katara
  • Ian Ousley will take up the mantle of Sokka
  • Dallas Liu will be Prince Zuko

It's noticeable that all of these actors and actresses actually are the very age the characters are supposed to be, and, more impressively, they even have the right ethnicity. No surprises on the latter, though, since the movie we don't speak about was mostly demolished by fans for entirely white-washing the Avatar universe and getting the cast as wrong as one possibly could.

So far, so good, Netflix. Now, about those creative differences...

Please don't F this up.
