The Witcher is huge, and so everyone was a little nervous when we found out it was coming to the big screen. These things often go wrong. But it didn't with the Witcher. No, Netflix's take was almost unanimously praised - and now they're back with me. Get in!

When Is The Witcher Season 2 Release Date?

The Witcher Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 17, and we believe (but cannot yet confirm) that the entire season will drop at once. Which is surely the better result for fans...even if we spoil it by binging on the first night.

Netflix has turned around a second season so quickly, in fact, that we can presume more seasons are to follow.

Do We Know Anything About The Story?

Well not specifics, but we do know that this season is going to introduce us to the wider world of the Witcher industry. It's been confirmed, for instance, that a great many of Geralt's colleagues will be introduced to the show. As showrunner Lauren Schmidt described in an interview with The Wrap:

“Probably my favorite additions for Season 2 are the new witchers. Really, in Season 1, we got to know Geralt and he’s our prime example of a witcher. And then there is one other witcher, Remus, who we meet in Episode 103, who quickly dies. So it was, for us really, about getting Geralt back to his roots and sort of learning where he came from and what his story is and what his sense of family is.

"What his sense of family is" - mark my words readers, this single phrase will likely define the season. And without giving away any spoilers to newer fans of the Witcher, that also means we're due some fantastic new characters.
