The most anticipated game of the year is just a week away from its official release. Now, a recent stream restriction announced by CDPR hints that it may come out a day earlier on December 9.
Cyberpunk 2077 was initially announced on May 12, 2012, and the first teaser was released over 7 years ago in January 2013. Yeah... let that sink in. The game was delayed so many times that, at this point, its release date is a meme.
Here are all the dates that were supposedly set for release:
- April 16, 2020
- September 17, 2020
- November 19, 2020
- December 10, 2020
The last date is the one everyone has their fingers crossed on. Now, just yesterday, it was revealed that "streaming restrictions will apply until December 9." Hmmm...

We wil send MAX-TAC (you know, the guys who take down videos) after everyone who does. After that date, however, we would love if you’d streamed everything like there’s no tomorrow.It’s 2020, who knows, maybe there isn’t.
Just to clarify, “MAX-TAC” is basically an elite SWAT unit in-game, so CDPR seems to be quite serious about their statement.
While the official release of the game is scheduled for December 10, CDPR is applying restrictions until December 9. Does this mean the release will be a day earlier? Maybe, but at this point does it really matter? We’re sure plenty of streamers will have an exclusive copy and are ready to start playing as soon as the embargo drops.
Some famous content creators like Félix “xQc” Lengyel tend to agree with CDPR and the rules.
That's a bit ironic considering xQc was banned on Twitch multiple times and is not exactly known for playing by the rules.
