Many of you have been waiting years for this game, but now it's going through the final stages of pre-release. We promise.
If you're a Digimon fan, then recent years must have felt pretty tortuous. We've been aware of Digimon Surivive, and other games from the franchise, for some time, but they've all been locked in seemingly-endless development. And to make it worse, Digimon Survive has already been pushed back once. Well, no more, now we have solid evidence to suggest it really is coming soon, as soon as the spring of 2022 in fact.
Will Digimon Survive Ever Come Out?
Yes, we're quite sure that Digimon Survive is going to be released in early 2022, this is because it has now been officially ESRB rated. That tells us that the game must be in a finished state, and that all they have left to arrange is the marketing details for release. Why do we know the game must be finished? Because ESRB don't give a rating to something still in its developmental stages. They make that much clear in their FAQ:
How does the ESRB know companies have fully disclosed all of the content in their game or app, and what happens if they don’t? Through a combination of post-release testing and monitoring of public comments ESRB verifies that all content pertinent to a rating has been reviewed. Should we find that a game or app has been assigned a rating based on incomplete or inaccurate content disclosure, we work to ensure that the rating is promptly corrected wherever it is displayed to consumers, be it a game box, an advertisement, or an online or mobile storefront. For physical (boxed) games, failure to disclose pertinent content during the rating process may also be addressed with formal sanctions and penalties.
