How To Get A Grappling Hook: Walkthrough

1. Collect Crafting Resources

1a. Finding Metal Scraps

You need four Metal Scraps to make the Grappling Hook. You can find Metal Scraps by killing and looting enemies above the Shroud, or by destroying metal items that you find in the open world.

1b. Crafting String

String can be crafted anywhere, you don't need to be at a workbench, all you need is three pieces of Plant Fiber. Now to your next question: To get Plant Fiber, harvest small bushes or tear out dead vegetables.

1c. Finding Shroud Spores

To get Shroud Spores, you need to kill and loot enemies in the Shroud, like the blue enemy about to attack the player in the image below.

You only ever get a couple of Shroud Spores per enemy, but at least enemies aren't difficult to find in the Shroud.

2. Craft The Grappling Hook

Approach your Workbench and interact with it to open the crafting menu, simply select the Grappling Hook from the Survival section, and you will craft this item if you have the necessary ingredients.

The item will go to an open slot on your action bar, and if there is no slot, then it will go into your backpack.

You cannot craft the item if there is no space in your inventory. You need somewhere to put Enshrouded's Grappling Hook, after all.

3. Equip The Grappling Hook

Once you craft the Grappling Hook, it will go into your inventory, but it won't automatically be equipped. You need to manually equip the Grappling Hook by moving it into a slot on your Action Bar (the bar at the bottom) and then selecting it.

The Grappling Hook appears here if it has been equipped:

If you haven't equipped the Grappling Hook properly, you might have an awful surprise further down the road...

Well done, you now know exactly what materials you need to craft a Grappling Hook, and you also know where to find them. Have fun climbing to new heights, and enjoy the rest of your Enshrouded journey!
