We've had to wait a long time, but God of War Ragnarök is finally releasing on November 9. Fans have been patiently waiting for new info on the game, which is a direct sequel to the fantastic series reboot from 2018. Now, one month ahead of the release of the much-anticipated sequel, developers Santa Monica Studio revealed another good bit of news: God of War Ragnarök has gone gold. What does that mean?

God of War Ragnarök Has Gone Gold

This news was revealed by Santa Monica Studios on Twitter. If you didn't already know, "going gold" means that a video game has been approved by first-party publishers, in this case Sony, for release. There's a whole long-winded process to get through to go gold, but I won't bore you with the details. Effectively, "going gold" means that a game is feature complete and playable. God of War Ragnarök is now ready to be pressed onto discs and that's really good news one month ahead of release.

We are super hyped for Ragnarök, but the strange pricing has us worried...

From now until the game comes out, the developers will work on a day one patch that players will be able to download on release. It's good to see that they already have a good chunk of time before release to work on further improving the game. The predecessor was a super smooth and well polished experience, and we expect the same for Ragnarök when it comes out for PS4 and PS5 on November 9.
