Halo Infinite is coming this year, and we rounded up everything we know about the game: Release date, weapons, multiplayer, and battle royale details... we've got it all.

This is gonna be a long one, folks. We're going to cover quite a large number of things regarding Halo Infinite:

  • Halo Infinite Release Date
  • Halo Infinite Multiplayer and Battle Royale Details
  • Halo Infinite Platforms
  • Halo Infinite Gameplay & Weapons

You ready for this jelly? Let's go:

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite Release Date

You already know that we were supposed to get the game for the launch of the Xbox Series X|S. You know that the game then got delayed after its graphics turned into a meme. You know all that, but what you might not know is that Halo Infinite is now scheduled to release in Fall 2021. If you're unsure, Fall 2021 is from September 22 to December 21. If you ask our totally uneducated guess, we estimate Halo Infinite to release in late November 2021. This was given further backing by Halo Infinite actor Verlon Roberts, who said the game was "pushed to late November this year" on a podcast.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer & Battle Royale Details

  • Halo Infinite's multiplayer will be free to play
  • It will run at 120 FPS on the Xbox Series X
  • Halo Infinite will have a Battle Royale mode

That's about all we know regarding the multiplayer. Of course, the fact that it is free-to-play is huge. Then again, can you really afford to charge for a multiplayer game these days if you want to compete? It seems like only Call of Duty can pull that off, and even they released Warzone for free. Heck, even EA releases Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode for free. It's just all the fuzz these days, and we're loving it.

Word of caution: The Halo Infinite Battle Royale is not confirmed, but it might as well be. To quote CouRage on the matter:

“If Halo Infinite doesn’t release with a robust and well made Battle Royale game mode, then it will be one of the greatest gaming failures in history.”

What Platforms Will Halo Infinite Release on?

It should come as no surprise, that Halo Infinite will release on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Honestly, though, the fact that it's coming to Xbox One... not sure how we feel about that. The Xbox One is gonna be so old by the time the new Halo releases, and we're worried that the old system is gonna hold back the Xbox Series X and PC version... Only time will tell, but we've seen this before with Cyberpunk 2077.

Our solution: No crossplay. Keep the game separate for each system, and you can pack all the next-gen features you want into the Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Oh, also, Halo Infinite will be a Day One Game Pass release. You know what that means, right? Halo on my phone, baby, let's go!

Halo Infinite Gameplay & Weapons

Well, the video above speaks for itself, but here are a couple of gameplay features that are new to Halo Infinite:

  • The Master Chief will have a grappling hook that he can use to pull in enemies or pull himself up... you know, when he's feeling down.
  • Halo Infinite will feature weather systems: A wind system and day and night cycle
  • The world will be more open-world than any Halo game before, with many side quests beyond the "Golden path".
  • NPCs will have a routine, similar to what you see in Skyrim or, more recently, Zelda Breath of the Wild: They will sleep, eat and have searchlights at night.
  • There is no dual-wielding
  • There are no playable Elites, as Halo Infinite is a "Master Chief and Spartan story"
  • There will be a new type of weaponry: The Banished weapons, which are "animalistic, powerful and visceral."
